Love this chart from Matt Yglesias, and the comments are worth skimming, since they question some basic premises of his post. The one state left out that I really want to see is California, since it’s the only state that has a fully-functioning, diverse, economy that could survive as it’s own country.

Imagine a map of the United States of America was transformed into a game of Risk, with each state as a territory, and that state’s total economic output corresponding with the number of armies it can produce. In which order would the states be drafted?
Imagine five players, so each each player will end up with ten states. Alaska is connected to Hawaii and Washington. Hawaii is connected to Alaska and California. Here’s how I think it would play out, in a snake draft.
