New York people! Filipino food in Brooklyn!
Philly Pinoy’s offerings would seem a honey trap for foodies—Filipino dishes unfamiliar to the American palate, like ginisand ampalaya, a sautéed bitter melon, and bopis, a spicy concoction of offal that would not be out of place at some nose-to-tail joint a neighborhood over. But it’s not the foodies that eat at Philly Pinoy, and it’s not the vacationers; it’s the crews from the ships.
Five words: Oxtail stew. Mouth is watering.

Man eats one month of McDonald's, then runs marathon
Reminds me of when I “competed” in the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest. Guy that won the Charlotte sectional by wolfing down more than 30 dogs in ten minutes told me he was running a marathon two weeks later.
Lesson: I wish I was in the kind of shape where I could eat anything I wanted for just one day, with no repercussions.

Goodbye, soda
Today, my 28th birthday, is also my self-imposed deadline to shake my soda addiction. Sure, it’s now a diet soda addiction, but it at one point in undergrad it was two liters of regular Coca-Cola per day. Not good times.
I’m happy with this decision. In celebration of ingesting healthier liquids, here’s a short retrospective of my soda-drinking history, oldest photo to newest.

High school!
More photos after the jump.
